Michael Orlando is the Broker in Charge and a Founding Partner at TSG Residential, a boutique real estate firm headquartered in historic downtown Davidson, NC. A Davidson College graduate and 29-year resident of the community he serves, Mike has spent his career doing something rare in real estate — building Davidson, not just selling it.
Over his 21-year career, Mike has closed more than 254 transactions totaling approximately $320 million in sales volume, including a 2024 MLS record sale of $7,200,000 — the highest recorded sale price for a Davidson estate. In the past year, he closed 24 transactions representing $31.9 million in sales volume, with an average sales price of $1.32M across homes ranging from $281K to $4.25M.
As Broker in Charge and Founding Partner of the #1 Davidson real estate firm from 2019 through 2026, Mike brings a depth of local knowledge that extends well beyond transaction data. Before co-founding TSG in 2014, he was a Founding Partner at The Stewart Group, where he built a commercial portfolio exceeding $20 million in assets and developed more than 100 lots in Davidson alone. His development work helped shape some of the community’s most beloved addresses — Stowe’s Corner on Main Street, Davidson Hall, Beaty Street Infill, the Delburg revitalization, and the Catawba Avenue corridor.
Mike specializes in Davidson infill lots, infill estates, new construction, and land — with particular expertise in the complex entitlement and approval processes unique to Davidson. His clients include healthcare professionals, investors, and buyers referred through Davidson College, and his work spans historic downtown Davidson, the West Side, and walkable infill corridors throughout the community.
His connection to Davidson runs deeper than real estate. Mike is the owner of Flatiron Kitchen (founded 2009) and Mandolino’s Artisan Pizza (founded 2017) in the Historic District, a Title Sponsor of the Davidson Lands Conservancy since 2017, a current Board Member of the Orchestra of the Carolinas, and the lead sponsor of the traditional American music series at Davidson College. He founded DownRiver Records, a nonprofit record label promoting North Carolina artists, and created the Ramble On Music Festival — a free fall festival in the South Main Arts District celebrating North Carolina musicians. TSG Residential’s charitable giving has exceeded $100,000 since 2014, deployed entirely to Davidson nonprofits including the Davidson Lands Conservancy, Davidson College, Ada Jenkins, the 201 Collective, Davidson Community Players, and the Shamrock Stroll.
Before real estate, Mike performed as a professional mandolin player with nationally recognized acts including the Grammy-winning Carter Brothers Bluegrass Band, the Grammy-winning Hadden Sayers Band, the Grammy-nominated Michelle Malone Band, and the Blue Dogs.
